JOHN WAYNE AND ROCK HUDSON -Framed original photo

Price: $ 775.00   (Paintings » Rock Hudson)

WOW!!!

THIS LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER THAN IT DOES IN THE PHOTOS!!!

  • It is embossed with Mr. Hudson's stamp which says:
"From The Library of Rock Hudson (RH)", and no other copy in the world will have this.

  • The photo is a crystal clear studio quality photo.  Since this photograph is about 45 years old, it does have a few small crease marks, exactly as I found it in the many boxes of Rock Hudson Items I inherited from his estate.
  •
  • The few creases from age are not as noticeable, in real life as they are in the photos. They do  give the piece some character.Remember these were Rock's Personal photos, the ones he rummaged through, the ones he brought out at parties or if someone just wanted to view one. These photographs are the ones he held in his very hands; they were his.

  • READY TO BE HUNG RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX WHEN YOU RECEIVE IT!!!!!

  • Very highly collectable!!!
  • Being Rock's, makes it even more rare!!

  • In this photograph is Rock Hudson & John Wayne.  They are behind the scenes, either going over some action, lines or maybe even perhaps discussing how they used to have nicknames for each other that they agreed not to say any longer in public!!!!! This reminds me of a little anecdote you may not have heard, regarding Rock and John Wayne:
IT HAPPENED WHEN HE WAS WORKING WITH JOHN WAYNE ON THIS 1969 POST-CIVIL WAR FLICK, "THE UNDEFEATED".  THE DUKE WAS A... BIT OF A HOMOPHOBIC, AND ONCE HE FOUND OUT ROCK WAS CALLED "JUNIOR" AS A KID, WAYNE ALWAYS CALLED ROCK "JUNE" IN A CONDESCENDING WAY.   WELL, ROCK WAS SO WELL-LIKED WITHIN THE MOVIE INDUSTRY, THAT ONE OF THE CREW INFORMED HIM JOHN WAYNE'S REAL NAME WAS "MARION".
SO ROCK, HAVING THE GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR HE HAD, RESPONDED IN THIS WAY:
THE NEXT TIME THE DUKE CALLED TO HIM, "HEY, JUNE...YOU'RE WANTED ON THE SET!" (OR SOME SUCH THING), ROCK REPLIED, 'BE RIGHT THERE...MARION!" AND THE TWO GOT ALONG FABULOUSLY AFTER THAT!

HERE IS ANOTHER ORIGINAL ART PAGE FROM MARC SILVESTRI.

KING CONAN

ISSUE # 19

PAGE # 22 or 27

C. 1983

I got this page directly from Marc Silvestri.
I was his neighbor in Malibu, Ca. during the end of the 1980's, and used to watch him draw.
Definitely a master of his craft.
I understand he is doing well today with his own comic lines.

My god father, George Nader was a Sci-Fi author so I gifted it to him where he hung it in his office for years.  After his passing I got it back.

Now it is available to you.

THE SHEET IS WHOLE AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.

KIYOSHI SAITO - SELF CARVED / SELF PRINTED 1953 / 1956

Price: $ 4,500.00   (Paintings » Rock Hudson)

THIS IS A FABULOUS PRINT BY KIYOSHI SAITO.

STAMPED AND SIGNED AND NUMBERED.   It is a fabulous piece for any collection.

Born in Fukushima prefecture, Kiyoshi Saito began by designing signs for store fronts in 1924 and developed his work it into a successful business. His love of art inspired him to sell his business and move to Tokyo in 1932. There he studied Western-style painting at the Hongo Painting Institute. While exhibiting his oils, he begun making woodblock prints (Hanga) by cutting and printing progressively from a single block. By 1937 he focused on only making woodblock prints and in 1938 he produced the Winter in Aizu series depicting the area where he lived as a child. In 1943, he met Onchi, which led to membership in the Nihon Hanga Kyokai (Japanese woodblock association). At the end of the war he exhibited with Un-ichi Hiratsuka and Hide Kawanishe in Tokyo. It was at this exhibition that he sold his first print.

In 1948, he exhibited at the Salon Printemps, and in 1951 received first prize for Steady Gaze at the inaugural Sao Paolo Bienniale. This event brought the modern school of Japanese prints to prominence. Saito was featured in Statler's, Modern Japanese Print: An Art Reborn (1956), and visited the U.S. in 1956 under the auspices of the State Department and the Asia Foundation. From that year onward, Saito exhibited widely throughout the U.S. and Europe. In 1967 he made a woodblock print of Prime Minister Eisaku Sato for the cover of Time Magazine.

In his later years he moved on to figure subjects then to Buddist subjects and the building and culture of Kyoto, influenced by the works of Mondrian. Saito's prints, with their flat areas of color and solid textures were the result of his search for the essentials of nature.

Saito died in 1997 at the conclusion of a major retrospective in Tokyo at the Wako Department Store.

Kiyoshi Saito works are in numerous collections including:
Cincinnati Art Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art; Achenbach Foundation for the Graphic Arts, San Francisco; New York Public Library; Art Institute of Chicago; Fukushima Prefectural Museum of Art; Kanagawa Prefectural Museum.
