Carved Wood Roadrunner Hardwood

Carved wood roadrunner-hardwood. Another piece from George Nader's collection.  George Nader spent decades in the desert in and around Palm Springs, Ca.  He was alone half the time and would love the road runners that would visit him at his homes.  They are a very bold bird and would come right into the living room if the door were left open.  Almost daily you would see them running accross the front lawn.  They are larger and not as meek as most think.   A fascinating thing to watch. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Egyptian Soap Dish

Historical Context: Egyptian scarabs are some of the most interesting and collectable artifacts from ancient Egypt. The Scarab was a symbol of rebirth and resurrection to the ancient Egyptians because the beetle would rise up from the Desert sand. The hieroglyph "writing" on this scarab is an Egyptian spell. Egyptians believed these Scarabs could provide protection for the bearer. The spell carved into it would provide the details of the spell and protection, generally praising the good gods and warding off the bad gods.

Copper and Brass Egyptian Soap Dish-two pieces.  Scarab on the lid has two Persian turquoise eyes.  Piece is heavy and well made, tight fitting.  George Nader bought in Egypt during his visit in 1961 to the International Film Festival he was a part of hosted by President Nasser.  Comes with Certificate of Authenticity.
