Ancient Vase-BarnaclesPrice: $ 10,000.00 (Object d Art » Rock Hudson)
Ancient vase encrusted with barnacles. Phoenician I'm still trying to find the origin of this item. Just think, it was probably used for years then went down with a sinking ship and landed on the bottom of the sea and sat there for centuries. Then it was discovered brought to the surface and was sold. That's where Rock Hudson comes in. He bought it, brought it home and enshrined it there. He loved this piece and loved to tell the story I just mentioned. FADE OUT / FADE IN I was watching one of those Educational Channel programs on about an ancient ship that was found at the entrance of a harbor. As of the filming, no one was allowed to touch anything, but they were allowed to film it. While I sat there watching the divers footage of the wreck, I was in aw to see the exact same vases lined up on the floor of the ship. I took the vase over to the T.V. and compared it to what I was watching. So similar were they that the barnacles were even lined in the same direction.

Egyptian Figurine- Long Minus FeetPrice: Request Information (Object d Art » George Nader)
Historical Information: This item is an Egyptian USHABTI. Ushabtis are magical statues found in tombs and sometimes strewn around excavation sites, left by tomb raiders as they were mainly after the gold and larger artifacts. Egyptians believed these Ushabtis would come to life and serve the dead in their after life and do the unpleasant chore's and tasks the deceased might be called upon to perform in the afterlife. Because the daily life of ancient Egyptians centered on agriculture, these Ushabtis took on the appearance of field workers. They were mummiform, so as to be identified with Osiris, the god of the dead, but their hands were protruding from the bandages so they could do the work. George Nader was asked to be a guest at the International Film Festival in Egypt, Hosted by President Nasser. Nader is a Lebanese name and George happened to be President Nasser's favorite actor. The event featured such talent as Roger Moore, Shelly Winters and Robert Conrad among others. It was a major event. President Nasser put the talent up in hotels, but asked George Nader to personally be his guest at his palace. George happily agreed. George Nader was given a V.I.P. tour of the Pyramids, The Sphinx, The Valley of the Kings and the rest of the sights in the area. Upon leaving he was presented with an array of gifts. One of which was this piece. This piece comes with a copy of the photo album of this trip and includes copies of Film Festival programs and more.Thispiece and the other pieces of Egyptian Antiquities we have for sale were not looted, as most were, weather in recent years or long ago, but given as gifts by the then President Nasser To George Nader himself. Egyptian Two-Papyrus Sheets depicting circumsisionPrice: $ 460.00 (Object d Art » George Nader)
Our English word "paper", is derived from the word "papyrus", an Egyptian word that originally meant "that which belongs to the house" (the bureaucracy of ancient Egypt). At about the same time as the ancient Egyptians moved from prehistory to history by developing a written language, they discovered the need for a medium other than stone to transcribe upon. They found this in their papyrus plant, a triangular reed which symbolized ancient lower Egypt. It was light, strong, thin, durable and easy to carry, and for thousands of years, there was nothing better for the purpose of writing. The earliest extant documented papyrus comes from Egypt's 1st Dynasty, but we believe it may have been used as early as 4,000 BC. It's use continued until about the 11th century AD. Besides its use for producing a medium for writing purposes, papyrus was also used for mattresses on beds, for building chairs, tables, and other furniture as well as for mats, baskets, boxes, sandals, utensils, rope and boats. Furthermore, the papyrus root was a source of food, medicine and perfume.Papyrus was, and continues today to be made from the papyrus reed that grows in freshwater marshes along the river Nile, though today this growth is rare and controlled. Technically, it is Cyperus papyrus, a part of the sedge family. The plant grows to a height of about ten feet. After harvesting, the outer fibers are peeled away and the core of the stalk and sliced into very thin strips that are as broad as possible. The best of these strips, from the perspective of quality, comes from the center. Progressively, the quality of the papyrus strips decline as the strips are taken further from the center of the yellowish-white pith. Two-Papyrus Sheets depicting circumcision. Plus one showing hieroglyphics symbols. And the envelope they were packed in. Purchased by George Nader while he was at the Film Festival hosted by President Nasser of the U.A.E. He was a personal guest of President Nasser and was lucky enough to stay at the palace with him.
