Historical Context: Egyptian scarabs are some of the most interesting and collectable artifacts from ancient Egypt. The Scarab was a symbol of rebirth and resurrection to the ancient Egyptians because the beetle would rise up from the Desert sand. The hieroglyph "writing" on this scarab is an Egyptian spell. Egyptians believed these Scarabs could provide protection for the bearer. The spell carved into it would provide the details of the spell and protection, generally praising the good gods and warding off the bad gods. Copper and Brass Egyptian Soap Dish-two pieces. Scarab on the lid has two Persian turquoise eyes. Piece is heavy and well made, tight fitting. George Nader bought in Egypt during his visit in 1961 to the International Film Festival he was a part of hosted by President Nasser. Comes with Certificate of Authenticity.
